Formal musician bio

Cassandra has been playing the piano since Primary 3 and has passed ABRSM Grade 8. She sang in the choir from 2001 to 2002 in primary school, and from 2005 to 2009 in secondary school. In 2012, she obtained a Merit in ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory, and in January 2013 she picked up the flute. In November 2015, she secured third place at the CUHK Mathematics Society Singing Contest. In April 2016, she obtained First Honours in the Sonata division and Second Honours in the Romantic division in the Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Youth Piano Competition.

She was the assistant music composer of the film “BOughT” by the Joint University Short Film and Communication Boot Camp 2016; she composed the film’s opening score. She was part of the music composition team of Joint University Media Production, which released the feature film “DID I” (teaser trailer).

Cassandra is a self-taught musical composer, and most of her pieces are in the minor key. Her piano teacher has remarked that they sounded Russian, having given her jazz ABRSM examination pieces that left a fingerprint on Cassandra’s style.

She likes energetic or majestic music, those that communicate a sense of urgency or awe. She would love to learn dancing in the future.

She began writing a musical of her own initiative since 2009. She will give more announcements on it in due time.

Cassandra uploads some of her musical compositions on SoundCloud, and has plenty of unpublished music. She also has a YouTube account to be used, hopefully in the near future.

She plays the piano, flute, guitar and sometimes the viola.

Cassandra welcomes musical collaboration, including free and paid gigs and performances. Interested parties may contact her.
